What is Organic Pu-erh Tea?
Organic fermented Pu-erh Tea (pronounced “Poo-air”) is one of the most oxidised varieties of Loose Leaf Tea available. While so-called Sheng Pu erh – a Green Tea – dates back centuries, you’ve chosen a Black Tea known as Shou Pu erh that came into existence in the 1970s.
It originates from the Yunnan Province of Southwest China, a landlocked region of heavy rainfall and warm, humid climates.
Workers make Pu erh by first withering the leaves for one to two days, removing a significant amount of their moisture content and kickstarting oxidation. The process is then halted by heating the Tea in what has been dubbed the “kill-green” process.
A period of rolling and shaping the leaves follows to help release Pu erh’s distinct characteristics. Next, it is dried in hot air, ready for the final stage.
The most crucial step involves manipulating conditions to simulate a natural ageing process. It occurs by prolonging the bacterial and fungal fermentation of the leaf – recognised in China as “wòdūi” (“wet-piling”).
Specifically, workers pile, dampen and turn the leaves constantly in a manner similar to composting. The result is what becomes our very own Organic Pu erh Tea.
Why Choose Organic Pu-erh Tea?
Organic certification can be applied to an agricultural product created without the use of pesticides or insecticides, bio-engineered genes and petroleum or sewage-based fertilisers.
Avoiding these harmful methods helps protect the environmental state of Tea estates, promotes biodiversity, and ensures the welfare of workers and wildlife alike. Few things could be better than that and of course Organic Tea as a whole.

Organic Pu erh Tea Benefits
It turns out that Organic Pu erh Tea benefits more than our planet. According to evidence, the infusion contains almost countless vitamins, minerals and other antioxidants. Among them are Vitamins B-1, B-2, and C, alongside Arginine, Beryllium, Calcium, Caffeine, Cysteine, Fluide, Histidine,
Iron, Linolenic, Lysine, Magnesium, Nickel, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc. But what, exactly, can they achieve?
In a 2011 study published in the Journal of Nutrition Research, 36 overweight individuals took Organic Pu erh Black Tea three times daily over 12 weeks. The result was a considerable improvement in body weight, body mass index (BMI), and abdominal fat measurements compared to a placebo group.
The reason, scientists believe, is its ability to synthesise fat at the same time as burning more stored body fat.
