Known for its mesmerising elegance through production, and delicate flavour in consumption, Organic Jasmine Green Tea is, arguably, one of the most majestic and beautiful brews currently available on the market. But when created using only natural resources as opposed to potentially harmful man made materials this tea has the true opportunity to flourish.
Jasmine Organic Tea, along with any other certified ‘Organic’ blends, have been produced without the addition of pesticides, insecticides, bio-engineered genes, and petroleum / sewage based fertilisers. These products, when applied to the mass production of tea, can lead to many issues, including poorer quality tea, ethically questionable working conditions on Tea Estates, and even environmental damage!
When you choose The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company’s very own Jasmine Green Tea, you are choosing to protect Tea Estates, as well as the surrounding areas, from the devastating effects of these ‘unnatural’ components.
You are also raising the living standards for tea workers, as well as saving your body from the remaining residue absorbed by the tea leaves. So, why not enjoy this blend the way it was intended? Switch to Jasmine Organic Tea, today!
History of Jasmine Tea
For over a thousand years, this fragrant and fresh brew has been associated with ancient Chinese history and culture, with its early beginnings largely considered to be reserved for the sole consumption of Royalty.
Jasmine Loose Tea is thought to have originated from the Song Dynasty (1127-1279), but did not become widely known until China’s Ming Dynasty (1368-1644.) Many historians believe this sudden surge in Jasmine Tea consumption during this period could be associated with the Ming Dynasty’s passion for anything floral.
The surviving relics of the time showcase intricate floral patterns and references in everything from porcelain, paintings, embroidery, décor and literature. So, is it really any surprise that their preferred tea is reminiscent of these particular tastes?
How is Jasmine Tea Produced
Traditionally, Jasmine Tea is created through a laborious, yet rewarding processing method that sees its produce picked in the early afternoons of June, July and August. Once experienced and dutiful labourers have carefully hand-plucked the jasmine buds, selecting only those due to bloom that same evening they are placed in a dry place until night falls.
At this stage, thousands upon thousands of blossoms open into the cool air, releasing their signature scent. It is then that the Jasmine blossoms are placed into basket trays and layered over tea leaves during what is known as the ‘scenting process’.
After some hours, the tea leaves underneath will absorb the fragrance and distinctive flavour of the jasmine, with some higher-grade teas requiring this process to be repeated to ensure the effectiveness of the scenting.
