About the Ingredients
The base of our Orange and Spice Tea is Ceylon Tea from Sri Lanka. First produced in the 19th century, it is a famously full-bodied infusion compared to the likes of Assam and Darjeeling Tea.
It became a popular crop in the then British colony of Ceylon after a plant-based disease destroyed the Coffee plantations. The present-day island nation hasn’t looked back since with Ceylon Tea.
Other components in the blend include Cinnamon, Cloves and Orange Peel. The history of Cinnamon’s use dates back well beyond the 1800s to a time when spice was a rare thing outside of Asia and the Middle East.
However, it eventually arrived in the Western World through Arab merchants. Cloves appeared on the scene around the same period. Throw citrus into the mix, and you’re in for a treat!
How to Make Orange and Spice Tea
- Add about five grams of Loose Leaf Tea to a Tea Filter or Infuser.
- Place the tea-filled accessory in a cup or mug.
- Begin brewing by pouring in freshly boiled water.
- Allow it to steep for 3-5 minutes.
How to Serve: Not citrusy enough? Consider a slice of orange. Alternatively, serve black.
Tasting Notes: Embrace a sweet, fruity, spicy fusion of flavour with malty undertones.
