We then pack it fresh to order here at our Pluckley-based factory, nestled in the captivating vistas of the Kentish countryside. This ensures not only quality but also consistency.
Mexican Coffee Culture
Mexico, contrary to popular belief, is a country in North America – not Central America. Coffee plants first arrived there in the 18th century when the Spanish transported them from modern-day Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
Cultivation took place quickly. However, Mexican Coffee culture only became famous in recent years after it stepped out of the shadows of neighbouring Guatemala and Costa Rica.
The nation is now one of the largest Coffee producers in the world. It is also one of the largest producers of Organic Mexican Coffee Beans, specifically, and in 2000 accounted for 60% of output.
Close to half a million smallholder farmers rely on their crop to sustain their livelihoods, making Mexican Coffee an unmistakably lucrative export.
Together, these workers create around 4.6 million bags of Coffee annually.
Challenges with Fair Trade Organic Mexican Coffee
Yet there remain significant challenges. Recent estimates suggest that up to 70% of local Coffee harvests ultimately fail due to a multitude of factors. This means that supporting Coffee-growing communities is vital for their livelihoods.
You can start by buying the best Mexican Coffee beans here – a one step towards a fairer, freer Coffee industry not only in Mexico but around the world.
Difference Between Mexican and Colombian Coffee
Mexico also has the issue of being so close to so many famous Coffee-producing countries, including Guatemala, Costa Rica and, of course, Colombian Coffee.
However, it’s worth noting that the characteristics of Mexican Coffee differ significantly to its Central and South American counterparts. It is indeed unique, namely in the way that it’s easier on the palate. Why not find out today?
