What are Keemun Tea Bags?
The potential for making Keemun Black Tea Bags began in the 19th century. This was when a former Chinese civil servant named Yu Ganchen started experimenting with Black Tea production in 1875.
Ganchen had lost his job in the government months before. His humiliation had driven him back to his home in Qimen, at which point he tried to make a new name for himself.
And a name he indeed made. Keemun Tea (an archaic English spelling of “Qimen”) proved to be a tremendous success. In 1913, it won the gold prize at the International Exposition in Italy.
In 1915, it won gold again during the International Exposition in Panama. Finally, in 1987, it won the gold prize at the 26th World Premium Food Product Contest held in Belgium. Its popularity persists today.
What Does Keemun Tea Bags Taste Like?
Qimen County finds itself between the Yellow Mountains (also home to our Huang Shan Mao Feng Green Tea) and the Yangtze River.
The region’s high elevation, low temperatures, high humidity and frequent fog contribute significantly to Keemun Tea characteristics. When brewed, it has a distinct woody aroma and flavour with subtle malty undertones. You’re bound to love it.
Keemun Tea Bags Caffeine Content
But does Keemun Tea have caffeine? The answer is yes. This is a type of Black Tea, and like all Black Teas, it boasts around 45-mg of caffeine per 8-oz cup. But the question begs: is it a good thing?
It depends on your perspective. If you already consume too much, then you might be better off with a Decaf Tea. On the other hand, if you need extra help getting out of bed in the morning, you’ve chosen well here.
Plastic Free Tea Bag Paper
Finally, it’s worth noting that we have moved away from Plastic Tea Bags Microplastics, which are a scourge on the planet. We have instead started using Plastic Free Tea Bags made from wood pulp and vegetable starch.
Although technically classified as a “bioplastic,” these pockets of goodness do much to support the health and wellbeing of the environment.
