Creating Green Tea with Jasmine Flowers
Jasmine with Flowers Green Tea is the product of two components: Camellia sinensis (Tea) and Jasminum. The latter belongs to the Oleaceae family. It has found its way into a multitude of commercial products, including soaps, shampoos, lotions and perfumes.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, we prefer it as a wholesome and refreshing infusion. But how do you make Jasmine Tea with Flowers?
Workers first harvest the buds early in the afternoon when the sun is out and the dew has evaporated. Only those deemed to bloom that same evening will make the cut.
Upon arriving at the factory, they lie in storage until night when they blossom, releasing their signature scent. It is only then that the workers can layer the jasmine over the Green Tea, which, after a few hours, creates a blend unlike any other.
Caffeine in Jasmine Tea with Flowers
So-called “real” Tea from the Camellia sinensis plant is one of sixty plants to naturally contain caffeine. Jasmine is not one of them, but that matters little as the blend includes Green Tea.
You can expect around 30-mg of caffeine per 8-oz cup – not as much as Black Tea yet more than White Tea. In other words, if you need a pick-me-up but not to be overwhelmed, you’ve chosen well here.
How to Make Jasmine Tea with Flowers
1, Put Tea leaves into a Tea Infuser or Filter (both available here).
2, Place the Tea-filled accessory in a cup or mug.
3, Boil fresh water and allow it to cool to temperatures between 80 and 90°C.
4, Infuse for 1 to 3 minutes. Any longer and you risk creating a bitter taste.
How to Serve: Best served without additions.
Tasting Notes: This Tea provides a lovely floral flavour with sweet, grassy undertones.
