What is Huo Shan Huang Ya Yellow Tea?
All types of “real” Tea come from the Camellia sinensis (Tea) plant. While people know about Black and Green Tea, few have heard of White or Oolong. More elusive still is Yellow Tea.
This is a variety that has been lightly fermented, encased and steamed. Long adored by Buddhist monks, it was once also a so-called “Tribute Tea” given to royal members of the Imperial Court of China.
The practice of making Yellow Tea was widespread across China many centuries ago. However, its production now takes place in only a handful of provinces. One such region renowned for it is Anhui, located to the east of the country and famous for its varied and beautiful topography and ideal Tea-growing conditions.
Our Huo Shan Huang Ya stands testament to that fact.
