Hemp in Tea – All You Need to Know
Hemp comes from the coarse, bushy plant known as Cannabis sativa. It can grow up to four metres tall, producing long, palmate leaves with 3-9 lanceolate leaflets.
Individual plants also create either male or female flowers, which are small, green and clustered. The fruits, meanwhile, are notably dry and thin-walled, containing only one seed each.
Cannabis sativa originates from the Indian subcontinent, although it has since spread to much of Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. Despite requiring full light, it can grow in most soil types providing they are damp.
Historically, humans began using hemp as a fabric some 10,000 years ago. Since then, it has gone on to provide raw materials for paper, textiles, rope for ships, medicine, oil and much more.
During the early 20th century, consuming Cannabis sativa became socially controversial due to its psychoactive effects. In recent years, however, careful breeding and selection have given rise to cultivars exceptionally low in THC.
This, in turn, has resulted in it becoming widespread once more. Now, beverages such as Hemp Chai Tea are getting the recognition they deserve.

Benefits of Hemp Chai Tea
There is preliminary evidence to suggest that infusions like Hemp Chai Tea can alleviate symptoms of chronic pain. This might be because it naturally produces endocannabinoids, which are neurotransmitters. These, in turn, bind to cannabinoid receptors in the nervous system, ultimately reducing certain forms of pain.
Furthermore, Hemp Chai Tea, like all varieties to contain this particular herb, has anti-inflammatory properties. This can reduce swelling and the pain associated with it.
