Additionally, these berries contain a wealth of vitamins, minerals and other antioxidants capable of combating free radicals in the body. This ultimately reduces the risk of developing a multitude of chronic conditions.
Drinking Hemp in Tea
Hemp derives from the coarse, bushy plant known as Cannabis sativa. It can grow up to four metres tall, producing long, palmate leaves with 3-9 lanceolate leaflets.
Individual plants have the capacity to create either male or female flowers, which are small, green and clustered. The fruits, meanwhile, are unmistakably dry and thin-walled, containing only one seed each.
Cannabis sativa originates from the Indian subcontinent. However, it has since spread to much of Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. Although it requires full light to flourish, it can grow in most soil types providing they are damp.
Historically, humans began using hemp as a fabric some 10,000 years ago. Since then, it has gone on to provide raw materials for paper, textiles, medicine, oil and much more.
About Goji Berries
Goji Berries come from two closely related plants called Lycium barbarum and Lycium chinense. Both varieties belong to the boxthorn species of the nightshade family, Solanaceae. Native to the valleys of the Himalayas, these perennial shrubs can grow to five metres high.
Its branches are greyish, while its leaves are oblong-lanceolate, alternate and simple with a maximum length of 7 cm and 3.5 cm wide.
The distinctly purple flowers, meanwhile, which grow in the axils, appear alone or in inflorescences of small groups (maximum of three). However, it’s the berries that have the most renown, easily recognised by their ellipsoid shape, which can range in colours from orange, red, yellow and black.
Famously, Goji Berries have a close association with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), reportedly revitalising the skin and strengthening vision. They also, according to recent evidence, support one’s health and wellbeing in more scientific ways.
The same applies to Hemp, making this particular infusion a match made in heaven. Why not find out for yourself today?
