Darjeeling Jungpana Estate Tea is a high quality Darjeeling Tea from the Jungpana Tea estate. Like “champagne” can come only from the Champagne region of France and “Tequila” comes only from the area surrounding the Mexican city of Tequila, Darjeeling Tea comes only from the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. But what makes Darjeeling Tea from the Jungpana estate so special?
About this Darjeeling Tea Estate
The Jungpana tea estate is located in one of the most inaccessible areas of Darjeeling and can only be reached by foot while following a narrow, snaking road, then up more than 350 steps, and finally along a wooden footbridge over the river Changey Khola. It is roughly between 1,000 and 1,500 metres above sea level and is known for producing some of the most distinct and muscatel-tasting Darjeeling Teas of the entire region.
We are proud to share a close bond with the Jungpana tea estate and likewise boast one of their most delicious teas, Darjeeling Jungpana FTGFOP1. Choosing this beverage is like choosing the finer things in life. It offers everything you’d expect from a late first flush Darjeeling Tea and so much more.
FTGFOP1 stands for “Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe”, which represents a tea with the highest tippy content. A tippy tea in itself refers to teas that include a greater portion of tips (leaf buds). As a rule of thumb, FTGFOP1 Teas like this one offer a more delicate flavour and aroma; our Darjeeling Jungpana FTGFOP1 is a great example of just that.
Estates like Jungpana have long helped to maintain the good name of Darjeeling Tea and have done so for nearly 200 years. Tea was first discovered in India in 1823 which, compared with the entire history of tea, is not that long ago. By 1866, the Darjeeling region boasted 39 tea plantations spanning over 1,000 acres, producing around 133,000 lbs of tea each year.
Despite certain setbacks including, most recently, political turmoil and strikes (2017), the Darjeeling district now has 87 gardens spread over 17,500 hectares, employing 52,000 people of which 60% are women. Support the growth of the Darjeeling Tea industry today with our Darjeeling Jungpana FTGFOP1.

Health Benefits of Darjeeling Jungpana Estate Tea
Much of the internet will make you believe that Black Tea is not as healthy as Green Tea. Here at the Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company, we see things differently; while Black Tea lacks certain antioxidants that Green Tea has, it makes up for it in other ways.
For example, many scientists believe that Black Tea is better than Green Tea when it comes to enhancing cognitive function.
According to a paper published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, one recent study has the answers. Experts at the University of Singapore tested the cognitive functions of some 2,500 volunteers aged 55 or over, repeating the process 2 years later for comparison.
The results established that those who had drunk two to three cups of Black Tea a day during the 2 year period were 55% less likely to be subjected to cognitive decline (i.e. diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s disease). Better still, those who had drunk six to ten cups a day were up to 63 less likely.
