Darjeeling Autumn Tea Giddapahar is a Black Tea from the Indian district of Darjeeling, West Bengal. It is, specifically, the product of the Giddapahar Tea Estate, which finds itself nestled in the Himalayas.
Workers harvest its leaves in the Autumn, coinciding with when the climate cools, between early-October until mid-November. When brewed, it has a smooth, nutty and rich flavour unlike any other.
It’s worth noting, too, that Darjeeling Tea boasts a considerable amount of caffeine – approximately 40-mg per 8-oz cup. There is also a chance, according to modern scientific research, of it coming with Black Tea benefits.
Perhaps best of all is the fact that The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company pack it fresh to order. This ensures not only quality but also consistency.
Giddapahar Darjeeling Tea Estate
The name “Giddapahar”, translated, means “Eagle’s Cliff or ”Eagle’s Mountain“. This refers to the Estate’s ideal location, which is between 4,500 and 5,200 feet above sea level.
Such a factor plays a significant role in the taste and character of our Darjeeling Autumn Tea Giddapahar.
Another factor is that the garden uses the Camellia sinensis var sinensis (Chinese Tea plant) variety in production.
Since 1881, Giddapahar has been under the nurturing management and ownership of the Shaw family. Four generations later, and they continue to impress with their duties to the Estate.
Those same values apply at The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company, an establishment built through four generations of the Smith family working in the Tea industry.
