What is Iced Tea?
Let’s start with the basics. Iced Tea is almost exactly as it sounds: Tea served chilled. It has become increasingly popular in recent years, although it dates back centuries. Some of the first Iced Teas appeared during the 19th Century. Most of these used Green Tea as the base ingredient. Some even included hard liquor!
Iced Tea started to become most popular, however, after the 1904 World’s Fair held in St. Louis, USA. This was when Richard Blechynden, a Tea plantation owner, decided to pour ice over his product to entice more customers. On what was one of the hottest days of the year, it of course worked.
Today, Iced Tea recipes vary significantly depending on the type of Tea used. Options include the four so-called “real” Teas (Black, Green, White, Oolong), Fruit Tisanes or even Herbal Teas. For this article, we’re going to look at three choices. These are Exotic Peach Iced Tea, Berry Fruit Cocktail Iced Fruit Tea, and Mango and Bergamot Sencha Iced Tea.
All of the Iced Tea recipes below typically serve more than one person.
Peach Iced Tea Recipe
This is a type of Black Tea – a flavoured one, we hasten to add. We use leaves grown exclusively in Sri Lanka (Ceylon). To this, we add rose, safflower and cornflower petals, as well as all-natural flavouring. Low in calories and high in antioxidants, there is nothing not to like with our Exotic Peach Iced Tea. But how do you make it, and what should you add?
Ingredients
- Exotic Peach Iced Tea
- Peaches
- sugar
How to Make Peach Iced Tea
- Thinly cut slices of peach.
- Place slices into individual glasses, NOT the serving pitcher.
- Put Loose Leaf Exotic Peach Iced Tea into a Tea filter (2tsp per person).
- Add the Tea filter into a heat-resistant vessel.
- Boil fresh water.
- Pour the water into the vessel so that it ONLY covers the Loose Tea.
- Allow it to steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Any longer and you risk over brewing the leaves.
- Let it cool in a fridge, covered, until cold, for about an hour.
- Top up with cold water while adding ice cubes and sugar.
- Serve in the glasses with freshly cut peach slices.
Sit back, relax, enjoy!
Berry Fruit Cocktail Iced Fruit Tea Recipe
This blend of berries is one of our best-sellers! It boasts a rich and full-bodied flavour and an aromatic depth rarely found in Fruit Teas. Its ingredients include sultanas, hibiscus flowers, blueberries, blackcurrants and elderberries. Combined, they make an infusion like no other. Combined, they make our Berry Fruit Cocktail Iced Fruit Tea.
Ingredients
