Countless restaurants and cafes serve it across the country. It is also a common item found in Japanese households. Nevertheless, the first Coffee jelly recipe appeared in a cookbook in England in 1817.
There are at least two methods when it comes to how to make Coffee jelly. The first is to use agar, a gelatinous ingredient made from algae known as “kanten” in Japanese.
The other, which we’ll be focussing on below, involves gelatin. What does Coffee jelly taste like? It probably wouldn’t surprise you if we said it has a distinctly Coffee flavour. Additionally, it is sweet and creamy with a “bouncy” texture.
