Bi Lou Chun Tea (also written as Biluochun, Pi Lo Chun and Bi Luo Tea) is a renowned Loose Leaf Green Tea from China. It consists of stunning medium-sized twisted leaves, green and silver in colour, that, when brewed, boast a pale liquor with a delicate aroma. Upon the first sip, you will be indulging in its light buttery character and refreshing aftertaste – a true delight to the senses.
The Basics of Bi Lou Chun Green Tea
This Tea’s name means “green snail spring”, referring to its distinct pre-brewed appearance, which, some people say, resembles snails. Its harvesting, taking place in the early springtime, occurs traditionally in the Dongting mountain region near Lake Tai in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. However, similar cultivation happens in Zhejiang, Sichuan and Fujian – the latter of which is where we get our Tea.
The famous Tea scholar Zhen Jun (1857-1918) ranked Bi Lou Chun first among all types of Chinese Green Tea. Second place was Dragon Well Tea (Longjing Tea), another variety we stock at The Kent and Sussex Tea and Coffee Company. Best of all, since our establishment in 1982, we’ve packed each Loose Tea fresh to order here at our Kent-based factory, ensuring not only quality but also consistency.
Does Bi Lou Chun Have Caffeine?
When you need an extra boost in the morning, caffeine is almost always the answer. Caffeine is a stimulating chemical compound that, when consumed, provides an often much-needed energy kick. It exists in at least 60 plants, including the Camellia sinensis (Tea) plant. You’ll be pleased to know, then, that Bi Lou Chun has about 30-mg per serving – in other words, a gentle start to your day.
