This Assam Tea comes from the Harmutty Estate. Its exceptional quality is in part due to it being a 2nd Flush Tea, as well as a “STGFOP1” Tea. This term stands for “Super Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe”, which denotes a Tea that has a high content of golden tips. It also contains young, tender leaves that, when brewed, have a refined and indulgent taste. Upon the first sip, expect a full-bodied, malty flavour with a refreshing finish.
Studies suggest that there are also benefits to be had from Assam Tea, and indeed all types of Black Tea. When enjoyed as part of a healthy and active lifestyle, Assam Tea Harmutty 2nd Flush can afford protection against a variety of chronic conditions. This includes cardiovascular disease and type-2 diabetes. Furthermore, it can aid digestion and support the immune system.

The Harmutty Tea Estate
Harmutty is one of the oldest Tea Estates of its region, first established in 1870. It finds itself in the North Lakhimpur district alongside the Dikrong river, bordering the forest of Arunachal Pradesh. The climatic conditions of the area make for excellent Tea. Our very own Assam Tea Harmutty 2nd Flush is indeed one of the best examples of this fact!
Why Should I Choose 2nd Flush Assam Tea?
When it comes to Assam, a 2nd Flush Tea gets 1st place in terms of its quality. A common misconception is that a 2nd Flush Tea is not as good as a 1st Flush. Some may indeed argue this case with Darjeeling Tea, but the opposite is true for Assam! The region’s second flush occurs between May and June, with harvests boasting plenty of ‘tip’ and full-bodied flavours. These Teas are generally sweeter than Assam 1st Flush, which makes them all the more popular. So don’t settle for second best. Settle for second flush!

Assam Harmutty Second Flush Tea Benefits
We’ve mentioned that this Tea fights several chronic conditions. But how? The answer lies in its wealth of antioxidants. According to research, Black Teas such as Assam Tea Harmutty 2nd Flush contain theaflavin and thearubigin. These antioxidants work together to combat free radicals in the body.
Free radicals are the product of natural, though harmful, human oxidation. When left unchecked, oxidation can wreak havoc on the body’s system. Black Tea, however, slows down oxidation through its work in combating free radicals. This indeed reduces the risks of developing cardiovascular disease and type-2 diabetes.
