Story Behind Assam Black Tea Bags
Assam Tea comes from the north-eastern Indian state of the same name. The region lies between the Himalayas, the Brahmaputra Plains and the Deccan Plateau, factors that promote one of the richest biodiversity zones in the world. It experiences heavy rainfall (2,500-3,000-mm annually) and high humidity throughout the year. These make ideal conditions for growing Assam Tea.
However, until 1823 – just 200 years ago – the infusion didn’t exist. While sounding like a long time ago, it isn’t compared to 5,000-year-old Chinese Green Tea. First discovered by the indigenous Singpho tribe, it rose to prominence after a Scotsman named Robert Bruce realised its commercial potential. Assam is now one of India’s three central Tea-growing areas, accounting for 55% of the country’s total Tea output.
Does Assam Tea Have Caffeine?
It stands to reason that Assam Breakfast Tea Bags are a fantastic start to the morning. But there is a specific reason: Caffeine. This stimulating chemical compound famously provides an energy boost once consumed. It exists in around sixty plants, including Coffea (Coffee) and, of course, Camellia sinensis (Tea). The average serving of Assam Tea will have about 45-mg of caffeine.
Support the Environment with Plastic Free Assam Tea Bags
We have recently introduced biodegradable Assam Tea Bags to support Mother Nature’s critical hour of need. Not only are they compostable but also 100% free from harmful petrochemical plastics. They’re made with a combination of wood pulp and vegetable starch, which, despite not being a perfect solution, is better than the alternative. Our family-run business is always striving to protect our planet.
